PVC Film Usage Tips

PVC protective film is a surface protection material widely used in industrial manufacturing, architectural decoration, electronic products, and transportation. Its main function is to prevent products from scratches, contamination, or corrosion during transportation, storage, or construction. Correct use of PVC protective film can not only enhance the appearance quality of finished products but also effectively reduce the cost of later cleaning and rework.

The basic process of using PVC protective film includes surface preparation, cutting and applying the film, pressing to remove air, and subsequent removal.

Surface Preparation: Before applying the film, the surface to be protected must be clean, dry, and free from grease and dust. You can use anhydrous alcohol or a special cleaner to wipe the surface, then dry it with a clean cloth to prevent residue from affecting adhesion.

Cutting and Applying the Film: Cut the PVC protective film appropriately according to actual needs, ensuring the size is slightly larger than the area to be protected, so as to fully cover it and leave edge allowance. When applying the film, slowly unfold it from one end, peeling off the release paper while smoothly attaching it to avoid wrinkles or bubbles caused by pulling too quickly.

Pressing and Air Removal: For flat areas, you can use a squeegee or soft rubber roller to gently press from the center to the edges, expelling air so that the film adheres closely to the substrate; for curved or irregular surfaces, gently heat the film to soften it, using a low-temperature hot air gun to evenly blow, enhancing flexibility and facilitating application to complex contours.

Precautions: When used in high-temperature or high-humidity environments, choose PVC protective films with stronger weather resistance to prevent premature aging or delamination. In long-term storage applications, regularly check the film's condition to prevent edge lifting, which could allow contaminants to enter.
